Hannah Dowell Lafayette, Indiana Obituary
The Lafayette community is grieving the loss of 29-year-old Hannah Dowell, who tragically died in a single-vehicle crash Monday morning on the city’s east side. The Tippecanoe County coroner confirmed that Dowell was the driver involved in the fatal crash, identified through her fingerprints. The accident occurred in a ravine just north of Courtland Avenue.
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Dowell was driving north on Courtland Avenue when her SUV veered off the road, crossing through Filippo Cacucciolo’s yard. The vehicle struck Cacucciolo’s house, ran into his trash bins, and knocked over his basketball hoop before continuing onto a shared driveway. The SUV eventually left the driveway, plunged into a ravine, and crashed into a tree.
Witnesses described the SUV as bursting into flames, which were subsequently extinguished by Lafayette firefighters. According to police, Dowell was ejected from the vehicle, but further details regarding the incident have not been released. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, as confirmed by the county coroner, Carrie Costello.
